Graduation from the University of Kent’s Centre for Journalism

On Tuesday 10th July, I graduated from my MA in Multimedia Journalism at the University of Kent’s Centre for Journalism. Deciding to do the course was the best decision of my life, and I leave feeling immeasurably more confident about my own ability, and my career prospects.

I’ve had to face my fears repeatedly, and have had to get used to being willing to make mistakes, in the knowledge that I’ll learn and improve. I strongly believe that going outside my comfort zone is the only way I’ll ever get better at anything, and doing this brilliant course – which has taught me the essential skills needed to be a good journalist – has only confirmed that belief.

In September, I will be starting as a trainee reporter at MailOnline, and will spend ten weeks at the Liverpool Echo as part of my training. I’m really looking forward to putting what I’ve learnt into practice, and trying to prove myself where it really matters: in the workplace.
